Culture Revamped, Sisterhood Restored.

About Me
I grew up in Englewood, Ohio, a suburb of Dayton, where I lived for 18 years before venturing off to the University of Kentucky to study political science. Since graduating, I have moved back to Dayton to obtain a masters degree in public administration (MPA) from Wright State University. I'm the oldest of two brothers and one sister. I love to travel, as often as I can. Most recently, I traveled to Cuba and China. I consider myself to be someone who works hard so I can explore and experience new things. I have always loved to dance, especially hip hop and salsa. My favorite food is tacos and I firmly believe they should have their own spot on the food pyramid.
Theta Nu Xi has always had a special place in my heart. Due to the lack of diversity on my campus, I admired Theta Nu Xi from afar. Our campus was in need of a safe space where women of all different backgrounds could be in friendship and community without judgement and ridicule. Determined to make a change to not only the community that is UK but also the bluegrass state, the journey to lavender and Carolina blue began. In reflection of that time and the three years thereafter, I couldn't have imagined the impact Theta Nu Xi would leave on my life. In my happiest and deepest times, my sisters have always shown to be near.
Since becoming a Founder of the Alpha Omicron Chapter, I have been involved in our organization on a local and regional level, most recently serving on the Central Region Leadership Team as Undergraduate Officer of Intake and Expansion (ROIE). During my time serving as ROIE and other positions including Chapter President, on the Expansion Team for Alpha Pi, and Recharge Team for Upsilon, I have developed skills that will allow me to lead our region into our next two years and beyond.

Why do you want to serve on the National Board?
I want to give back to the organization which has given so much to me. Theta Nu Xi has fostered tremendous growth in my life professionally as a leader and personally as a woman. Serving on the national board in this capacity will help me to understand the day-to-day inner workings of our nonprofit which will help me to formulate new ideas on how to realistically make impactful decision about our current processes and region as a whole. At a time where the Central Region is struggling to meet our organization’s standards and avoid dormancy, we need to find news ways to revamp the culture and restore the values of sisterhood.

Testimonials
“Katelyn joined the organization as a Founder of the Alpha Omicron chapter in 2016. She is no stranger to hard work and dedication. As she has continued to support her home chapter, after graduation. She has also stepped up and has served the Central Region for the last two years as ROIE allowing her to familiarize herself with the region, its members, and its unique culture. Katelyn truly believes in our organizations potential and truly cares for the Central region's overall well-being and sustainability. She is a true force to be reckoned with and would make for a great Regional Director."
Jazmin Peralta, Lambda, Spring 2010
“Katelyn is truly the definition of a boss butterfly. She has been there for me through my hardest times and is a genuine and dependable sister and for those reasons that I admire tremendously #faml. I was fortunate enough to witness Katelyn’s founding emergence at UK and be a part of her TNX journey. For the past couple of years, I have been privileged enough to see Katelyn grow in every tenant which she encompasses wholeheartedly. Katelyn is a true passionate leader, what we need in this organization. It is for reasons like Katelyn that I continue to be such a die-hard TNX butterfly.”
Krystal Shepard, Alpha Mu, Spring 2015
“Soror Katelyn has been an inspiration not only to me but to all the sisters around her. As a member of our organization, I have watched Katelyn as she motivates others, encourages everyone, and stands as a pillar for justice to all. She's always opening up her heart and being a voice of reason. Katelyn not only serves as a liaison for her chapter but also as a contact for sisters amongst different regions. Personally I have enjoyed getting to know Katelyn as she has been a light in my life with her determination, solace, and patience.
The Region Director should be someone who is level headed, sympathetic and empathetic but also someone who has the ability to stand firm on rules and guidelines set before them. The role relies on an individual to take into account the wellbeing of our organization while also being concerned for the good of her region's needs. In saying as much, I believe Katelyn exemplifies the character and poise that embodies being an amazing regional director. I couldn't think of a more qualified sister than Katelyn as she has played a significant role in being a confidant and liaison for the sisters around her. Katelyn is not only the perfect role model as a sister but also the perfect individual to take into consideration for the role of the Central Regional Director.”
Yakira Sadler, Zeta, Spring 2015
“Where do I begin? I have known Katelyn before we began our TNX journey. We met in undergrad by chance and the rest is truly history. Many of you may have seen us stroll together, travel together and laugh together. Katelyn was a constant for me during our journey to found the Alpha Omicron Chapter at the University of Kentucky. Her willingness and determination is infectious. I know I can always count on her to get things done but then also have those deep life conversations, which is a balance that all members, especially national board member, of this organization should posses. Katelyn is more than qualified to serve as the Central Region Director. She has already held a regional position and strives to do her best in any role she is put in. The Central Region really needs someone who is dedicated, organized and passionate about TNX. You will not be disappointed with Katelyn.”
Chanel Friday, Alpha Omicron, Spring 2016
“Her leadership began with bringing Theta Nu Xi Multicultural Sorority, Inc. to the University of Kentucky's campus. She served as Chapter President after her initiation and up until her graduation. She is the most determined and loving butterfly to ever cross this organization. As a current sister of the central region, I believe she is the best fit for the position of Regional Director. In 2018, she stepped up in the region taking on the position of ROIE and did an absolutely amazing job at staying in contact, motivating, and checking in on ALL of the chapters. Her experience, sisterhood, and leadership is what both this organization and region needs moving forward. I couldn't think of anyone better for the job.”
Montayah Pozzi, Alpha Omicron, Spring 2017
